Kids of seven are building up their ability to concentrate for longer periods and reading is an essential part of this stage in their development. It builds vocabulary and confidence and helps them disappear into their imaginations. Kids have usually picked up a few interests by the time they hit the seven-year mark, so choosing the right book to buy for a gift can be daunting.

Dog Man was written by the creator of Captain Underpants. With this collection, kids can enjoy following Dog Man on his crime-fighting excursions. Each book in this collection follows him on a different adventure as he discovers things about his world and himself.

6Rosie Revere, Engineer (The Questioneers)
This is one of the best books for seven-year-olds because it follows the main character, Rosie, in all of her adventures with her friends. 9The Invisible Boy
This is one of the best books for seven-year-olds. It follows Brian, who might as well be invisible. No one pays any attention to him but he makes friends with Justin, the new kid, and suddenly learns to shine.

- It has beautiful illustrations that help to enhance the story
