Mario Kart is a classic and popular Nintendo game that allows kids to play some of their favorite Mario characters in a battle racing adventure. It has several new characters that they can play and some of the more traditional ones, like Dry Bones, Bowser Jr., and King Boo.
What we love

2Minecraft (Nintendo Switch)
Minecraft is a beloved game by millions of children and in this version, they can play, build, and go on adventures on their Nintendo Switch. It has a creative mode and survival mode just like other Minecraft versions. It also includes a few other packs to make the game more fun and unique.
What we love
- The worlds are generated randomly for a unique experience every time
- It can be played in tabletop or handheld mode

- Some add on packs are not included in this version
3New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe - Nintendo Switch
In this video game, kids can play in the Super Mario Bros. Universe. It has three different additional modes that will allow them to up the difficulty. This game has different features that are not available in the other games, like a Hints gallery and a reference video.
What we love
- It has a multiplayer option
- New characters, Toadette and Nabbit, have been added to the game
What We Don't Like That Much
- It's not much different than the WiiU game version
4Pokémon Shield - Nintendo Switch
Pokemon is a fun and classic game that kids have experienced for generations. Pokemon Shield allows players to choose from three new partners and it has several Pokemon that have never been seen before.
What we love
- This game still allows kids to battle, trade, and catch Pokemon
- The game is set in the Galar region and includes max raid battles
What We Don't Like That Much
- Many of the traditional Pokemon characters were removed from this version
5Luigi's Mansion 3 - Nintendo Switch
In this Mario game, kids will accompany Luigi in a thrilling adventure where they will catch ghosts and solve different types of puzzles from the Last Resort hotel. In single-player mode, kids can play as Luigi or Gooigi. They can also play with a friend and both characters will be used.
What we love
- This game is capable of eight players playing at the same time
- It has different and new functions that were not available in previous versions

- The game can accommodate eight players but only two per console
6Instant Sports - Nintendo Switch
This game includes six different sports games and kids can customize 20 different characters by choosing their names, accessories, hair, and outfits. Plus, this game comes with varied game modes.
What we love
- It can be played in 15 different environments
- It has tons of unlockable items for further customization
What We Don't Like That Much
- The game can be slower to load than other Nintendo Switch games
7Monster Jam Steel Titans - Nintendo Switch
Within this game, kids can drive their favorite monster truck and it will allow them to choose between 25 of the most popular trucks. It allows them to also perform several of the most popular stunts.
What we love
- Two players can play this game once the training mode is completed
- It has an interesting soundtrack
What We Don't Like That Much
- The two-player mode is a split-screen
8Overcooked! Special Edition + Overcooked! 2
This set includes two games in one. Kids can work on various chaotic cooking adventures and choose among 20 different chefs. There are 75 levels for kids to work through using unconventional kitchens.
What we love
- These games can be played solo or in co-op mode
- Both games come on a single game cartridge
What We Don't Like That Much
- It includes Overcooked!'s DLC but not the one for Overcooked! 2

This is one of the best Nintendo Switch games for seven-year-olds because it combines some of the best classic tabletop games into one video game cartridge. Plus, it comes with free supplementary software that allows kids to connect with their friends locally.
What we love
- It contains a total of 51 classic tabletop games
- It can be played alone, in person with friends, or online
What We Don't Like That Much
- It only supports up to four players in multiplayer mode
10Spirit of The North
This game is full of beautiful environments that kids can explore while playing as a Fox who has spiritual powers. The game includes several mysteries and puzzles for kids to follow through and solve that are based around Nordic folklore.

- It has an amazing soundtrack
- It has a unique and silent style of story-telling

- The controls can be a bit clunky compared to other games
